Plate Codes

The OMV uses a format for all vehicles registered with the office: AA11111. The two letters signify which kind of vehicle it is, and the last 5 numbers count up from zero. The following is a list of codes and which type of vehicle they correspond to:

Codes:

GP: Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle

EV: Electric Car

EW: Eighteen Wheel Truck

PT: Pickup Truck

HR: Hearse

PV: Police Vehicle

MH: Motorhome

BY: Bicycle

SC: Scooter

EB: Electric Bicycle

ES: Electric Scooter

MV: Mail Delivery Vehicle

AM: Ambulance

RC: Rental Car

TB: Tourism Bus

IV: Imaging Vehicle (eg. a Google Street View car)

MC: Gasoline Powered Motorcycle

EM: Electric Motorcycle

TT: Turbine Transport Vehicle

FV: Flammable Liquids Transport Vehicle

CV: Competition Vehicle (eg. a racecar)

SB: School Bus

CB: City Bus

WV: Watercraft Transport Vehicle

IT: Inmate Transport Vehicle

VT: Tow Truck or Vehicle Transport Vehicle

CT: Catering Vehicle

LC: Lawn Care Vehicle

XX: Miscellaneous - does not fit any of the above
